Reasons why Facebook is a Waste of Time

Is Facebook useful or a waste of time? Is there any introduction needed for Facebook? Of course not, because nowadays most interactions among people are going through Facebook. The popularity of gadgets is increasing day by day; that’s why many people have been forgotten to communicating people directly and use social media to do that. In this article, there is a discussion about how Facebook is wasting our time. You need two apps to run FB, but there is no option to logout of Facebook messenger.

Facebook is not real or effective, it is only an advanced form of the electronic bulletin boards which have existed since the Web evolves. Facebook does not actually ‘bring people together‘ in any conventional sense of this term but pushes them apart as I’ll attempt to demonstrate in this column. An actual ‘social media‘ would not be virtual. It would involve actual people, interacting with at a real, physical, bricks-and-mortar construction or outside location, where they may have food, drinks, and talk.

Best Features of Facebook to Waste Your Time

Reasons why Facebook is a Waste of Time

Facebook is like a prison for those people who spends a lot of time here. You sit around, waste your time, change profile picture many times, write on walls and also get poked by people you do not know. Yes, this is what Facebook is and despite those facts, you will find almost 2 billion Facebook users spread all over the world and an average Facebook person spends 40 minutes a day on Facebook.

After every few months, Facebook introduces new features to get engaged with people. Here I have shared some of the best features that I think the reasons why Facebook is a waste of time. Let’s check it out.

#1. Like Button

Like” button is placed all over on Facebook; on Status, Photos, Videos, Comments, everywhere. This is a great advantage of Facebook that people must love to do, Liking. If anyone saw a status or a comment, then they don’t forget to like it. One thing that I noticed girls got much more likes than boys. You can see a competition in between friends to get more likes. That’s why very often they post pictures on their timeline. Last year, Facebook introduced more emotions on the like button; Love, Sad, Lol, etc.

#2. Tagging Others

For me, tagging is an irritating option on Facebook. Even so, a person is likely to be tagged on Photos then they are tag others. As people thinking if you tag more than you’ll get further likes and probably makes a good relation with friends. Now tagging is upgraded on status and comment that anyone can tag you in that by using “@” symbol. This is another reason to waste your time on Facebook.

#3. Commenting

As the Like button, commenting is also a most-used option on Facebook. Users comment on other’s Facebook status, pages more often than update their status. This is an amazing human nature that people give more interest to others than own. Every user counts two things, how much likes and comments he/she got.

#4. Friend Request

In average, every user gets 7 friend requests in a month. Men are counted as more friend request senders and women as more request receivers. The interesting fact is that, a user has many friends, but they don’t know each other. More friends on Facebook mean more time on Facebook.

#5. Group and Page

A power user means an active user who spends more time on Facebook has different groups and pages. A productive user does more things in groups and Pages. Pages are mainly to promote something and Groups are for discussion, but people do anything on that.

I think, these are the main reasons why Facebook is a waste of time. A report on Facebook’s user saw that 96 percent of students are using Facebook. Among them, 80 percent is an active user. Social networking is the best source to know about the outer world, but people wasting their time on Facebook by doing unnecessary activities. They are forgetting the real-world relationship and meeting people. So, do Facebook for entertainment and learning purpose, not for wasting your expensive time. If it has once gone, then never come back again.
