  5. Hi,

I've tested it on my Xperia Z3, D6653 (5.0.2) with Build Number 23.2.A.1.62.

    And lucky it's working fine.

So i think that the build number is not necessary to be 23.1.A.1.28 as long as your device is (Z2 , Z3) and is running android 5.0.2 then it should be no problem in using this tutorial for root.

Chandan can you clarify with this?

  15. hi, same here :)

first of all, I forgot to thank you when being able to root my Z3 under 5.0.2 thanks to you, so a few days late, i'm thanking you :)

now, my device has been updated to 5.1.1 (23.4.A.0.546) and jumped back to unrooted, I'll just wait for this page to be updated, hoping you'll find a way just as simple as the one for 5.0.2 :)

just asking for a lucky guess : should we keep rooting apps (BusyBox, XZRecovery) or wait and keep them ?

      • well, even if rooted, i just pluged it on my computer and used Sony Companion sofware. While the direct-on-the-phone update gave me the "Impossible verification" error (idk the english exact name of the error, since I'm french), the update via Companion worked without any problem

The only thing I remember having set on my phone since I rooted it was to disable the USB debugging functionality

        I hope this helps :)

  33. Hello, everything works fine until I get to install recovery with XZRecovery, after the red texts saying that the system will reboot after installation, it says "installing, please wait…" and won't go ahead, I tried unistalling XZR and removing the recovery but still the same problem, can you help me?

    • After successfully installation of XZRecovery.
      1) Turn off the phone.
      2) Now turn it on and suddenly press the Volume Up button, when you'll see the SONY logo.
      3) It'll vibrate twice, then leave the volume button.
      4) It'll open the recovery menu.

      • Thanks for the quick reply, and unfortunately I've already tried to get into the recovery menu manually, but this method doesn't work, neither by using quickboot, I think I have to unlock the bootloader or something right? damnit there's one step missing untill I get my phone rooted, I am also willing to do a factory reset and start over the whole procedure do you think that can work?

        • I had some problems regarding rooting. After formatting the phone, everything is fine.

I think you should try on this. But, keep a backup of your applications before format and follow the above procedure carefully to root.

          • So I made a factory reset but looks like that it didn't restore previous root attempt in fact I still have Kinguser installed I don't know how, and root checker says I have a bad root, plus busy box won't install again..and the blue Chinese button in kingroot disappeared now there's a number and I don't understand what that means, apparently the phone is rooted just for kingroot

          • Download flasher tool on a computer and download your kernel and reflash it then once you have done that unlock it's bootloader via flasher tool the blu button and then re attempt it what device are you using

  34. Hello thanks for ur guide but i have a problem
    1. I successfully rooted my device with the provided app and installed busy box. And didnt proceed further as i didn't wanted supersu. But the problem arived when i performed a hard reset

Now king root says that my phone is rooted. But non of the apps which requires root access work.
I tried un/reinstall king root and busy box. Still the same. Every thing was fine before hard reset. Now i regret
    Please help.

  35. Chandan, thanks for the procedure. It was well documented and it took me less than 5 minutes to complete the process. I like how you made us install SuperSU instead of sticking with Kingroot.
